Lobban Moves into Last Four at Squash in the Land After Khan Withdrawal

8 March 2024

Scotland’s Greg Lobban progresses to the Squash in the Land semi-finals after an injury forced USA’s Shahjahan Khan to concede the match in the second game.

Lobban looked strong in the first game, earning an 8-2 lead with solid defensive play, but it was clear that the American wasn’t at 100% in the rallies as the Scotsman made light work in converting his lead to take the first game 11-6.

Lobban dominated the early stages of the second game, gaining a 4-1 advantage before Khan called an end to proceedings.

“Short match tonight. Shahjahan’s been struggling with an injury this season. I think this is his first tournament back and he had a really tough match against Matias [Knudsen] yesterday.

“But yeah, got a short one today and I wish him the best to come back as soon possible. It’s never nice, we train so hard the whole year so to not be fit enough to play in front of a crowd is really heart-breaking. It’s the worst thing that can happen so I hope he recovers soon and I’ll see you all in two day’s time.”
