HSC Houston Men’s Squash Open – Day One: How to watch live

13 February 2024

The HSC Houston Men’s Open gets underway today with eight matches taking place on the show court at Houston Squash Club. The 16 players will be battling for spots in round two to face the top eight seeds.

An entertaining clash will open proceedings as Hungary’s Farkas Balazs takes on Egypt’s Yahya Elnawasany. The Egyptian recently made the last 16 of the J.P Morgan Tournament of Champions, claiming impressive wins over Nicolas Mueller and Aly Abou Eleinen. The 22-year-old will be determined to recreate that form to edge closer towards the top 20.

Three players will be competing on home soil on day one as Andrew Douglas, Timothy Brownell and Faraz Khan will all feature. Douglas will face Egypt’s Aly Abou Eleinen in the final match of the afternoon session, the pair have never met on the PSA tour before but will be familiar with each other’s games due to crossing paths in their University matches.

Faraz Khan will play France’s Sebastien Bonmalais in his opening match. Bonmalais almost claimed the biggest win of his career in the recent Pittsburgh Open, as he lost out in an incredibly tight five-set match to Marwan Elshorbagy. He’ll be hoping to recreate that form to put together a strong run this week. Brownell will be up against Wildcard Muhammad Huzaifa Ibrahim at 17:30.

Play starts at 13:00 (GMT-6) with action available to watch live on SQUASHTV.
