Hong Kong Open Champion Paul Coll Rises To No.2 In Latest World Tour Finals Leaderboard Standings

4 December 2023

The last Platinum event of 2023 came to an end yesterday with New Zealand’s Paul Coll and Egypt’s Hania El Hammamy claiming the titles. Valuable World Tour Finals leaderboard points were up for grabs and with the win, Coll has now moved up to No.2 in the standings, but already had his place confirmed after his win in Philadelphia.

Hania El Hammamy remains at No.2 in the women’s standings behind Nour El Sherbini and like Coll, already confirmed her place in the World Tour Finals after her win in the QTerminals Qatar Classic in September.

Women’s Hong Kong Open runner-up Amanda Sobhy has moved to No.3 in the leaderboard after a terrific week and has now given herself an important 3,000 point gap between herself and eight place, which could prove crucial if Sobhy is to be sidelined for a period of time after her withdrawal in the final.

Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam has moved to just one place outside the desired top eight as she claimed her first World Tour title in the Hong Kong FC Open.

Subramaniam defeated up and coming Amina Orfi in straight games in the final, and has also registered quarter final finishes at the Hong Kong Open and Singapore Open.

The New Zealand Open is the last World Tour event of the year with more points available for players to advance their positions in the World Tour Finals Leaderboard. Action gets underway tomorrow, 5 December at 13:00 (GMT+12), availabe to watch on SQUASHTV.
