HKFC Win Bolsters ElShorbagy’s Top Four Spot In Road To Egypt Standings

12 December 2022

After his victory at the Hong Kong Football Club Open, Egypt’s Marwan ElShorbagy has increased his points tally on the Road to Egypt standings.

The CIB PSA World Tour Finals includes both a men’s and women’s tournament featuring eight players each and brings together all PSA World Tour Platinum title winners. Any remaining places are allocated to the highest ranked players on the CIB Road to Egypt Standings, with points on offer at all PSA World Tour events during the season.

ElShorbagy remains in 4th place in the men’s standings following his first win on Tour since March 2021. He is the highest-ranked male player yet to qualify for the season-ending event, with Mohamed ElShorbagy (1st), Diego Elias (2nd) and Mostafa Asal (3rd) all having won Platinum events in the 2022-2023 season.

World No.1 Ali Farag has also assured himself of a spot following his CIB Egyptian Open victory earlier this season. Frenchman Victor Crouin (5th) and New Zealand’s Paul Coll (6th) are also currently in the top eight, along with Egypt’s Mazen Hesham, who has moved into 8th spot after he reached the final of the HKFC Open.

The women’s standings remain the same, with Nouran Gohar and Hania El Hammamy having already assured themselves of a place at the season-ending CIB PSA World Tour Finals.

Nour El Sherbini (3rd), Joelle King (4th), Nour El Tayeb (5th), Nele Gilis (6th) and Amanda Sobhy (7th) and Welsh No.1 Tesni Evans (8th) make up the rest of the top eight in the women’s standings.
