Gohar Back Up to No.2 in PSA Women’s World Rankings

Egypt’s Nouran Gohar has overtaken arch-rival Hania El Hammamy to return to No.2 in the PSA Women’s World Rankings following her runner-up finish at the DAC Pro Squash Classic last week.

Here’s our look at the most notable movers of the week, as of Monday February 12.

Previous Ranking: No.3

New Ranking: No.2

Despite a surprise defeat to compatriot Rowan Elaraby in the semi-finals in Detroit, Gohar has risen a spot to go back to No.2 for the first time in four weeks, with El Hammamy going the other way.

Gohar will now look to cut the gap to World No.1 Nour El Sherbini when she lines up at the Windy City Open presented by the Walter Family next week.

Hollie Naughton

Previous Ranking: No.20

New Ranking: No.19

Canada’s Hollie Naughton put in some good results at the DAC Pro, playing beyond her seeding to reach the semi-finals.

The No.6 seed overcame England’s Alicia Mead in round two and followed that up with an upset win over No.4 seed Nada Abbas to reach the last four, where she went down to eventual winner Olivia Weaver by a 3-1 scoreline.

Jasmine Hutton

Previous Ranking: No.25

New Ranking: No.22

England’s Jasmine Hutton also put some fine performances together in Detroit, first beating compatriot Torre Malik before upsetting No.8 seed Lucy Beecroft to earn her spot in the quarter-finals.

The 24-year-old then lost out to Gohar in the last eight, but is rewarded with a three-place rise this week.

Emily Whitlock

Previous Ranking: No.24

New Ranking: No.23

Wales’ Emily Whitlock rises a spot to No.23, with England’s Lucy Turmel going the other way as a result of her Gaynor Cup points expiring.

Whitlock will now turn her attentions to the Windy City Open next week.
