20 February 2023

Following her victory at the Bahl and Gaynor Cincinnati Gaynor Cup, World No.1 Nouran Gohar has moved clear at the top of the Road to Egypt standings.

The CIB PSA World Tour Finals includes both a men’s and women’s tournament featuring eight players each and brings together all PSA World Tour Platinum title winners. Any remaining places are allocated to the highest ranked players on the CIB Road to Egypt Standings, with points on offer at all PSA World Tour events during the season.

Gohar successfully defended her crown at the Bahl and Gaynor Cincinnati Gaynor Cup this weekend, beating USA’s Olivia Clyne in straight games in the final. Prior to that win, she had been level at the top of the standings with World No.2 Nour El Sherbini, but the World No.1 now sits clear at the top on 10,445 points.

El Sherbini (2nd) and Hania El Hammamy (3rd) have both automatically qualified for the CIB PSA World Tour Finals, along with Gohar, with the three having already won Platinum events this season. Joelle King (4th) and Nour El Tayeb (5th) remain unchanged, while England’s Georgina Kennedy, who reached the semis in Cincinnati, has moved up three spots and is now 6th in the women’s standings.

World No.11 Joel Makin won the title in Calgary, and thanks to his win, he is now in 12th spot in the standings. Switzerland’s Nicolas Mueller also moved u one place and now sits in 14th spot.

Peru’s Diego Elias remains atop the standings by almost 3,000 points. He has already qualified for the season-ending tournament, with England’s Mohamed ElShorbagy (2nd), Mostafa Asal (4th) and Ali Farag (8th) also having guaranteed spots after major victories this season.
