Gohar & Elaraby Make Gains in Latest PSA World Tour Finals Leaderboard

26 January 2024

Egyptian duo Nouran Gohar and Rowan Elaraby are the major movers in the latest PSA World Tour Finals Leaderboard after the conclusion of the Platinum-level J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions last night.

World No.3 Gohar has climbed from 10th up to 6th after reaching the title decider in New York, while Elaraby has risen four places up to 10th after progressing to her first Platinum semi-final in almost two years. Despite eventually losing out to World No.1 El Sherbini in the final, Gohar continued her fine run of form since returning from injury earlier this month, securing wins over Egyptian quartet Rachel Arnold, Mariam Metwally, Nour El Tayeb and Elaraby.

Meanwhile, World No.12 Elaraby secured a trio of impressive wins over England’s Lucy Turmel, World No.4 Nele Gilis and teenage star Amina Orfi en route to the last four. The 23-year-old has subsequently jumped above Salma Hany, Orfi and Sivasangari Subramaniam in the PSA World Tour Finals Leaderboard.

Elsewhere, after reaching a maiden Platinum quarter-final, 17-year-old Fayrouz Aboelkheir has moved from 39th up to 21st, while J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions semi-finalist Victor Crouin has climbed into the top 10 in the men’s table.

After capturing their respective titles at the Grand Central Terminal, World No.1s Ali Farag and Nour El Sherbini remain at the top of each leaderboard, with the top five ranked players in each also unchanged.

All Platinum title winners from the 2023-24 season – which currently include El Sherbini and Farag, as well as Hania El Hammamy and Paul Coll – automatically qualify for the PSA World Tour Finals alongside the reigning PSA World Champions.

Any remaining places are allocated to the highest-ranked players on the PSA World Tour Finals Leaderboard, with points available at all PSA World Tour events throughout the 2023-24 season.
