England’s Declan James Ruled Out For Rest Of 2022/23 Season

30 November 2022

England’s World No.45 Declan James has unfortunately announced that he will miss the rest of the 2022/23 PSA season due to suffering a ruptured achillies tendon whilst on court.

The 29-year-old has been active on the tour for 11 years with a highest ranking of 15, which he achieved in May 2019.

James has endured “highs and lows” already this season in his results, performing well in two encounters against World No.6 Marwan ElShorbagy losing out in five games at the QTerminals Qatar Classic and in a tight two games in the Open De France quarter finals.

James also had a successful summer of squash as he picked up a Commonwealth Games Gold Medal in the men’s doubles with his partner James Willstrop, after they defeated compatriots Adrian Waller and Daryl Selby in the final.

However, James has suffered two shock defeats in his last events to lower ranked British players Rory Stewart and Simon Herbert at the Open PSA Lagord Tennis Squash 2022 and the Open International Niort Venise Verte 2022.

We are wishing Declan all the bes in his recovery and hope to see him back on the PSA Tour soon.
