Damming & Dong Capture Bendigo International Titles

2 July 2023

The 2023 City of Greater Bendigo International, PSA Challenger 3 titles have gone the way of Dutchman Rowan Damming and South Korea’s Dong Ju Song following their wins over World No.273 Dylan Molinaro and World No.198 Yura Choe, respectively, at the Bendigo Squash Centre.

18-year-old Damming, the reigning men’s World Junior Champion, has now made it eight matches unbeaten on the PSA Challenger Tour and has now won back-to-back tournaments following an 11-6, 11-9, 11-7 win over Molinaro after 28 minutes.

Damming had been tested en route to the final – notably battling to a 3-2 victory over No.7 seed Brice Nicolas in the quarter-finals – but was red hot in the title decider to pick up his third PSA Challenger title.

Meanwhile, the unseeded Dong has become the first Korean winner of a PSA Tour title for nine years after she overcame compatriot Choe by an 11-8, 11-9, 14-12 scoreline after 30 minutes of play.

It’s the World No.280’s first PSA title in just her fourth event.
