Chileshe & Jadishkumar Take Shepparton International Titles

9 July 2023

New Zealand’s World No.114 Temwa Chileshe has won the first PSA Challenger Tour title of his career after he took out World Junior Champion Rowan Damming in the final of the City of Greater Shepparton International earlier today.

Chileshe and Damming had met two weeks earlier at the Harcourts KDRE Morrinsville Open, with the Dutchman getting the win on that occasion with a 3-1 victory on Chileshe’s home soil in the semi-finals.

But it was the former who reigned supreme at the Shepparton Squash Centre, holding his nerve to take tie-breaks in the first and third games en route to a 12-10, 11-6, 12-10 triumph over the World No.85.

There was also a maiden PSA Challenger Tour trophy for Malaysia’s World No.96 Yasshmita Jadishkumar, who took the women’s title courtesy of an 11-7, 11-6, 4-11, 11-6 win over South Korea’s No.7 seed Mingyeong Heo.

Heo has scored successive upsets against No.2 seed Urwashi Joshi and Risa Sugimoto to book her final berth but was undone by her Malaysian opponent, who converted her second Challenger Tour final appearance.
