Fayrouz Aboelkheir v Farida Mohamed

After knocking out the top two seeds with superb performances in their respective semi-finals, Fayrouz Abolekheir and Farida Mohamed will compete for the title later today.

The match is a chance for both players to pick up a maiden PSA World Tour Bronze title – with it also being a first PSA final for the pair this campaign.

No.4 seed Mohamed has cut her way through the draw in imperious fashion this week, dropping just one game en route to the final. After securing a four-game win over Malak Khafagy in the second round, the 22-year-old needed a mere 20 minutes to defeat No.7 seed Lucy Beecroft, and, even more impressively, just 25 minutes to upset top seed Olivia Weaver in three games.

Meanwhile, Aboelkheir has continued her rich vein of form that saw her reach a maiden Platinum quarter-final at the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions – blowing the draw wide open by defeating three seeded players in succession. After claiming victory over Jessica Turnbull in Round 1, the 17-year-old overcame No.6 seed Melissa Alves and No.3 seed Sarah-Jane Perry to reach the last four.

However, her victory over Salma Hany – her second over the Egyptian in as many weeks – was one that displayed maturity beyond her years, as she fought back from 2-0 down, and four match balls down later on to eventually prevail in five games.

The Egyptian duo have met just once on tour before, with Mohamed claiming victory in the second round of the Rhode Island Open 2022. However, both players have improved significantly since this last battle, and with Aboelkheir currently boasting a career-high ranking of World No.28, both will fancy their chances in an even-looking final.
