Canadian Men’s Open QF: Elias Ends Home Hopes to Ease into Last Four

Top seed Diego Elias cruised through to the semi-final of the Canadian Men’s Open Presented by AirSprint Private Aviation with a devastating win over home favourite David Baillargeon.

The Peruvian, who is targeting a return to World No.1, began in brutal fashion against the Canadian No.1, delivering the tournament’s first bagel with an 11-0 win in game one.

Baillargeon was able to compete better in game two, but went 2-0 down after an 11-6 defeat.

Unfortunately for Baillargeon, that was as good as it got for him today, as Elias resumed his onslaught in game three to wrap up the match with an 11-2 victory.

“I’m very happy to be in another semi-final in a tournament like this,” Elias said afterwards.

“I’m really enjoying my time here in Canada which is like a second home to me.

“I’m so happy to be here.”
