Asal Moves Up to Career-High No.2 Ranking
Egypt’s Mostafa Asal will end 2022 at a career-high ranking of World No.2 after the PSA Men’s World Rankings were published today.
Here’s our look at the most notable movers of the week, as of Monday December 26.
Mostafa Asal
New Ranking: No.2
Previous Ranking: No.3
Mostafa Asal finished the year on a high with victory at the Hong Kong Open, coming back from 2-0 down to claim an improbable win against Peruvian Diego Elias, who looked like he was flying at the time.
While he will end the year at No.2 – following the expiration of previous incumbent Paul Coll’s points for the Black Ball Open – Asal will be eyeing up Ali Farag’s World No.1 spot in 2023. He will have an opportunity to take the coveted ranking if he wins the first event of the year, the Houston Open.
Saurav Ghosal
New Ranking: No.17
Previous Ranking: No.18
India’s Saurav Ghosal also rises a place, with the expiration of Black Ball Open points affecting Youssef Ibrahim, who falls a spot to No.18, elevating Ghosal in the process.
It’s Ghosal’s highest ranking since November.
Greg Lobban

Previous Ranking: No.26
Scotland’s Greg Lobban returns to No.25 and will be hoping to have a crack at the top 20 in the new year.
