Asal & ElSherbini First To Qualify For 24/25 PSA Squash Tour World Tour Finals

9 September 2024

Egyptian duo Mostafa Asal and Nour ElSherbini have become the first players to qualify for this season’s PSA Squash Tour Finals after winning the opening major event of the season, the CIB Egyptian Open Diamond level event.

Contrary to recent seasons, only the winners of the Diamond level events will qualify automatically for the PSA Squash Tour Finals this season. The remaining places will be decided through gathering points in the events that they play in.

Egyptian Open runners-up and last year’s PSA World Tour Finals winners Ali Farag and Nouran Gohar sit in second place in the first update. They will both be looking to qualify again this season and bid to defend their titles with strong performers in the major events.

Diego Elias and Marwan Elshorbagy sit in the third and fourth places in the men’s standings. Elshorbagy has missed out on the season ending event for the last three years but will be itching to return at the conclusion of this year’s campaign and if he can keep up his strong start to the season then there is every chance for the World No.10.

Two Egyptians occupy the 3/4 positions in the women’s standings. Hania El Hammamy has featured in the last five PSA World Tour Finals, winning in 2020. Abbas however has never featured in the event and would love nothing more than to keep up her form from the opening event to earn a spot in the finals.

The next opportunity for players to score points for the PSA Squash Tour Finals leaderboard will be at the Paris Squash 2024, commencing on the 15 September. Tickets for the event are available to purchase here. For more information on the Paris Squash 2024, visit the tournament website or follow the PSA on XFacebookInstagramYouTube and TikTok
