Ace Malaysia Squash Cup Finals: Preview & How To Watch Live

9 November 2023

We’re down to the finals of the Ace Malaysia Squash Cup 2023, with four players looking to capture the titles from their respective draws in the third Bronze event of the PSA season.

Play at the S2 Sports Complex gets underway at 16:00 (GMT+8), with both matches available to watch live on SQUASHTV.

Home favourite and No.5 seed Rachel Arnold will look to continue her dream run in Seremban as she takes on No.1 seed Nour El Tayeb in the first final of the day, with Egyptian duo Mostafa Asal and Karim Abdel Gawad following this match in what looks like a blockbuster men’s final.

Nour El Tayeb v Rachel Arnold

Arnold and El Tayeb have endured very different runs to the title decider, with the former spending 155 minutes on court compared to the No.1 seed’s 116.

The Malaysian has had to display her fighting qualities to come through three consecutive five-game battles, seeing off Aira Azman, No.2 seed Farida Mohamed and Malak Khafagy en route to the final.

Meanwhile, El Tayeb has dropped just one game over her three matches, defeating Tsz-Wing Tong, Amina Orfi in the last eight, and No.7 seed Sivasangari Subramaniam in a high-quality semi-final.

The Egyptian will be looking to scoop up her second title of the season after tasting success at the South Western Open, but she will have to overcome both Arnold and what is expected to be a partisan crowd to do so.

Mostafa Asal v Karim Abdel Gawad

Both Asal and Gawad have looked destined for the final ever since their opening bouts earlier this week, with the pair getting better and better with every match they have played.

‘The Raging Bull’ displayed his tremendous power but equally impressive accuracy during his semi-final against Ramit Tandon, dropping just 12 points on his way to victory. The Egyptian looks to have put behind his disappointing exit from the Grasshopper Cup last month and will be determined to secure his 13th title on the PSA World Tour.

Meanwhile, Gawad has continued where he left off at the Grasshopper Cup, stretching his winning run to seven games. The Egyptian has breezed his way through the draw this week, defeating Tsz Kwan Lau, and Indian duo Saurav Ghosal and Ramit Tandon en route to the final.

The World No.6 is yet to drop a game in Seremban, but this encounter with Asal looks destined to be a nail-biter which could go right down to the wire.
