Vikram Goyal Open: Tournament Preview

31 March 2023

The final event of the week will be the Vikram Goyal SRFI Open, which will take place at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi, India.

The Challenger 10 level women’s tournament will take place from Saturday, April 1 to Wednesday, April 5, with a 24-strong draw. Three members of the world’s top 100 will be in action this week in Delhi.

The Hong Kong duo of Cheng Nga Ching and Ching Hei Fung will be the top two seeds. Ching, the World No.80, will be the leading woman in the draw. She will be aiming to secure her first win since December 2021, and to make up for losing her last five finals on Tour.

Compatriot Fung beat her fellow Hongkonger to claim her maiden Tour title at the Eastside Open in September 2022. She will be the No.2 seed this week, and will be seeded to reach the final. Malaysia’s Ainaa Amani and Egypt’s Nadeen Kotb make up the rest of the top four seeds, with Amani in good form after claiming her first Tour victory recently.

The Malaysian was the winner at the Hong Kong Squash Challenge Cup just two weeks ago. She defeated this week’s top seed, Ching, in the final, to secure her maiden title. Kotb, the No.4 seed, will be joined by fellow Egyptians Nour Ramy, Haya Ali and Salma El Aify in the top eight seeds, with India’s Tanvi Khanna being the leading home hope.

Khanna will be one of seven Indians in action on home soil this week, with the likes of Sanika Choudhari, Janet Vidhi and Anjali Semwal among those featuring. Plenty of other nations will be represented, with Ukraine’s Anastasiia Kostiukova, Serbian Jelena Dutina and Singapore’s Leia Lee Zi Fang all playing.

The event takes place from Saturday, April 1 to Wednesday, April 5 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi. Follow the PSA Challenger Tour on Twitter and Facebook for daily updates from the event.
