UCNY Classic: Elshafei and Hussein Set Up Egyptian Battle

The final of the UCNY PSA Classic is set, and it will be an all-Egyptian clash between the top two seeds, Yassin Elshafei and Aly Hussein.

The pair came into the Challenger 5 level competition at the University Club of New York as the top two seeds. However, they made it into the final in very differing fashions.

Top seed Elshafei needed just 30 minutes and three games to win his last four contest. He took on Pakistan’s No.3 seed Noor Zaman in the semi-finals, and came through with an 11-7, 11-8, 11-9 victory to book his spot in the final.

He will now take on compatriot Aly Hussein, who fought back from being 2-1 down to overcome another Pakistani, in Nasir Iqbal. The pair did battle for 88 minutes, with Hussein eventually winning in the deciding game, 11-4.
