St George’s Hill SF: Jenkins and Todd Into Final

The English duo of Miles Jenkins and Sam Todd will face off in the final of the St George’s Hill Lawn Tennis Club Open in Weybridge on Saturday afternoon.

Jenkins, who is also the tournament promoter, came into the semi-finals fresh after only spending eight minutes on court in his last eight contest, where Welshman Owain Taylor retired through injury.

However, the Englishman fell behind in his contest with top seed and former World No.1 James Willstrop. He lost the first game 11-9, but fought back to win the second by a reversal of that scoreline. Jenkins then went on to claim the victory in four games, with the momentum in his favour, to move through to the final.

Jenkins will now face compatriot and No.2 seed Sam Todd in the final on Saturday. The Yorkshireman came through his semi-final contest with Ben Coleman in straight games. The pair were on court for an hour, with the third game going deep into a tie-break. Todd took it 16-14 to close out the victory to set up a meeting with Jenkins in the final, what will be their fourth on Tour.
