Singh & Laksiri Win August Challenger Player of the Month Awards

2 September 2024

Anahat Singh and Ravindu Laksiri have won the PSA Squash Tour Challenger Player of the Month awards for August, as voted for by fans on social media.

Both players enjoyed an unbeaten month, winning the same two tournaments to continue impressive runs of form.

Laksiri came into the month having won two tournaments on the bounce and extended that run to four in a row, winning the Reliance PSA Challenge 3 Tournament and then the HCL Squash Tour – Kolkata.

The Reliance event was a particularly significant one for Laksiri, representing his first ever PSA Squash Tour title in Sri Lanka, having won 11 national titles but never before a Tour title on home soil.

Those results earned him 54% of the votes on social media, crowning him as the Men’s Player of the Month for the second time in his career.

Singh, meanwhile, won the women’s award for the second time this year, after also being crowned Player of the Month in January.

Like Laksiri, Singh won the titles at both the Reliance event and in Kolkata, but in even more dominant style.

The 16-year-old sensation dropped only 16 points in total en route to victory in Sri Lanka, recording three bagels along the way.

She was made to work slightly harder in Kolkata, but still never lost more than seven points in any of her games, wrapping up a fifth PSA Squash Tour title in her last six events.
