PSA Challenger Tour Players of the Year – Vote Now

It’s time to vote for your Challenger Tour Players of the Year, with voting for the men’s and women’s competitions now open.

You can cast your vote in the polls below, while voting for the PSA World Tour Players of the Year is also open. Click here to vote for that award.

Votes will be combined with the votes made by the PSA Awards Committee – a group consisting of selected influential former players, members of the media, tournament promoters and PSA Board representatives.

Voting will close at 23:59 (GMT+1) on Thursday August 10, with the winners announced on Saturday September 2 ahead of the finals of the Paris Squash Alpine.

Here are the players shortlisted for the male and female Challenger Tour Players of the Year.

Male Challenger Tour Player of the Year
Awarded to the male player who best demonstrated supreme athletic performance and achievement on the PSA Challenger Tour during the season.

Rowan Damming

Rowan Damming collected seven titles during the 2022-23 season, and made it his debut on the PSA World Tour at the World Championships.

The 2022 World Junior Champion was a semi-finalist, runner-up or winner in nine of the 10 Challenger Tour events he competed in.

Charlie Lee

Charlie Lee secured back-to-back Challenger Tour titles in 2023, lifting the E.M. Noll Classic and the Guilfoyle PSA Squash Classic.

He reached the last 16 for the first time at a Silver event at the New Zealand Open, and Lee impressed at the Optasia Championships on the PSA World Tour – reaching the quarter-finals at the expense of his England team-mate and World No.3 Mohamed ElShorbagy.

Abhay Singh

Abhay Singh bagged himself five trophies this past season, with three of them coming in succession – two on home soil and the other in Australia.

Singh debuted on the PSA World Tour during 2022-23 after qualifying for the World Championships in Chicago, however World No.17 Eain Yow Ng got the better of him in the opening round.

Alfredo Avila

It was a high five for Alfredo Avila on the Challenger this season, including the Sport Central Open, the HSC International Squash Open and the Christianson Classic.

The 32-year-old was also a runner-up on a couple of occasions, with his last event of the season seeing him lose to his compatriot Leonel Cardenas with Avila unable to continue in the final of the STT Petróleos Open in July.

Abdullah Almezayen

Of the three Challenger Tour tournaments Abdullah Almezayen competed in last season, he claimed two of them and was a runner-up in the other.

He was the wildcard at the 1st Kuwait International Squash Championship, but home court came to his advantage at the 2nd Kuwait International Squash Championship when he defeated Yassin Elshafei in the final, and he added another title to his collection when he landed the KCC PSA Challenger Cup.

Female Challenger Tour Player of the Year
Awarded to the male player who best demonstrated supreme athletic performance and achievement on the PSA Challenger Tour during the season.

Torrie Malik

On the Challenger Tour, Torrie Malik bagged herself seven titles and made her PSA World Tour debut on home turf at the British Open.

Malik three back-to-back title successes – the Czech Open and the Purley Open, the Kent Open and the East Glos Open and the Mozart Open and the Liverpool Cricket Club Open.

Amina Orfi

Having made a huge statement on the PSA World Tour at the Squash on Fire Open and the World Championships, Amina Orfi sealed three trophies on the Challenger Tour.

The 16-year-old’s debut season saw her lift the 4th HCL SRFI Indian Tour – Jodhpur Leg, the Sutton Coldfield International and the 4th HCL SRFI Indian Tour – Delhi.

Hana Moataz

It was a hat-trick of titles for Egypt’s Hana Moataz on the Challenger Tour last season, including back-to-back wins at the Life Time Chicago Open and the Hamilton Open.

Moataz’s other triumph came at the London Open, and the 23-year-old reached the quarter finals of the Carol Weymuller Open and the Chestnut Hill Classic on the PSA World Tour.

Kenzy Ayman

Kenzy Ayman notched a hat-trick of title successes during the 2022-23 campaign, with all three victories on the Challenger Tour.

The 19-year-old clinched the 4th HCL SRFI Indian Tour Chennai Leg, the CSC Delaware Open and the Champion Fiberglass Women’s Open. Ayman also reached the last 16 of the Chestnut Hill Classic and the Canadian Women’s Open on the PSA World Tour.

Saran Nghiem

19-year-old Saran Nghiem clinched two titles last season, taking home the Open Costa Brava Squash Project and the Berkhamsted Linksap Open.

Along with some semi-final appearances, Nghiem was the wildcard at the Manchester Open on the PSA World Tour, but lost out in the first round to Egypt’s Yathreb Adel.
