Poznan Open QF: Senthilkumar Downs No.2 Seed To Reach Semis

India’s Velavan Senthilkumar is into the semi-finals of the SNS Foods PSA Poznan Open after beating No.2 seed Robert Downer.

The Challenger 3 level competition is into its second day, and the early session of action where the winners of the quarter finals would have to play again this evening in the last four.

The last match of the session saw Senthilkumar take on the tournament’s No.2 seed. He recovered after losing the second game to win in four. Downer claimed the second on a tie-break 12-10, but from there, the Indian only dropped eight points over the next two gams to secure victory.

The No.8 seed will now face Nilo Vidal in the last four. The Spaniard got the better of compatriot and No.4 seed Marc Lopez in a five-game battle on Friday afternoon. Vidal found himself behind after the third game, but fought through to win both the fourth and fifth games as the match time went over the hour mark.

The other semi-final will see top seed Rowan Damming face Scotland’s Alasdair Prott. The reigning World Junior Champion got the better of Frenchman Laszlo Godde, while Prott defeated England’s Noah Meredith, with both players winning in straight games.
