Paraguay Open QF: Wilhelmi Sets Up Romiglio Clash

For the second time in less than a week, Switzerland’s Yannick Wilhelmi and Argentina’s Leandro Romiglio will do battle.

The pair went head-to-head in the final of the Regatas Resistencia Open on Saturday, with the Argentine winning on home soil to secure the Challenger 10 level title.

This week in Paraguay, Wilhelmi got the better of No.3 seed Yannik Omlor to make the semi-finals. The first game went to a tie-break, but it was the Swiss No.3 who came through it, and he then went on to win in straight games to secure the victory.

He will now take on top seed Romiglio for the second time in six days. The Argentine defeated France’s Edwin Clain, the No.6 seed for the event, in four games. The pair were level after two, but a quick-fire third went Romiglio’s way, before the top seed went on to take the fourth game as well.

Jeremias Azana makes it two Argentinians in the last four in Asuncion. He also defeated a Frenchman to make the semi-finals. Azana got the better of Maceo Levy in straight games, and will now face England’s Tom Walsh in the last four.
