Niort Venise Verte SF: Masotti and Golan Into Final

France’s Baptiste Masotti is into the final of the Open International Niort Venise Verte on home soil, and he will take on Spaniard Borja Golan for the Challenger 20 level crown on Friday.

The Frenchman came into the tournament as the top seed, and he took on Egypt’s Ibrahim Elkabbani for a place in the final. The World No.21 came through in straight games, winning 11-7, 11-5, 11-5 in half an hour to advance to the final of this event for the second time.

He will face Spain’s Borja Golan on Friday, after the former World No.5 rolled back the years to defeat Portuguese No.1 Rui Soares in straight games. Golan took the first game 11-8, before then doubling his advantage following the second game, as he claimed that 11-6. The third was much tighter, going all the way to a tie-break. It was the Spaniard who took it 12-10, to secure his passage through to the final.
