Life Time Chicago Open – The Hussain Family: ElSherbini Claims 11th Tour Title
Mohamed ElSherbini lifted his first tour title since 2019, beating fellow Egyptian Aly Abou Eleinen in the Life Time Chicago Open – The Hussain Family final.
Separated by just a single place in the rankings, the pair battled through 73 minutes on court, with ElSherbini eventually running out 3-1 winner.
The top seed had not dropped a game en route to the final, beating Sanjay Jeeva, Mazen Gamal and Aly Hussein in the previous rounds, but fell behind to Eleinen in the final, dropping game one 12-10 in 22 minutes.
He levelled up in the second, taking control of the game with a four-point run which moved him from 4-3 to 8-3, closing it out 11-8 soon after.
The third game followed a similar pattern, with the players going toe-to-toe in the opening rallies before ElSherbini found some momentum, winning seven out of eight points to take the game 11-5.
Needing to win game four to stay alive, Eleinen started well, finding himself 4-2 up after less than four minutes.
But ElSherbini never let his opponent get away and once again pulled clear when it mattered most, moving from 7-7 to 11-7 to wrap up victory.
The win represents an 11th PSA Tour title for ElSherbini and a first since 2019, as well as being his first in a PSA Challenger Tour 30 event.
