Leo Vargas Claims Maiden Title At The Torneo Challenger De Anivesario CDP 2022

28 November 2022

Mexico’s Leo Vargas has claimed his maiden PSA title after overcoming his twin brother Carlos Vargas in a four game final at the Torneo Challenger De Anivesario CDP 2022 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

Leo Vargas was the No.6 seed in the event and after losing to opening game to his brother 11-7, managed to find his form to win the following three games 11-6, 11-7, 11-6 to claim the Challenger 3 title, the first of his career.

Leo had to win in four games in his opening match of the tournament as well to Colombia’s Felipe Tovar, before going on to claim two 3-0 victories in the quarter finals and semi-finals against compatriots Alejandro Reyes (the event’s No.1 seed) and Rodolfo Vega respectively.

This win for Vargas comes after a positive showing at the SACC Costa Rica Open 2022 Challenger 5 tournament where he was a surprise semi-finalist, losing out in a tough four games to No.1 seed Joseu Rodriguez.
