Lagord Tennis Squash SF: Stewart and Dussourd Set For Final

5 November 2022

After dumping out the top seed on Thursday, Scotland’s Rory Stewart caused another upset on Friday evening to reach the final of the Open PSA Lagord Tennis Squash.

The Scotsman had defeated former World No.1 James Willstrop in the quarter finals, and came up against another Englishman in Declan James on Friday.

It was the Englishman that took the first game of their contest at the Lagord Tennis Squash in France, but Stewart fought back strongly to level the match after the second game. He then carried the momentum through the rest of the contest, winning both the third and fourth to secure victory, winning 3-1 to move through to the final.

He will face home favourite Auguste Dussourd, the No.2 seed, in the final on Saturday. The Frenchman defeated Egypt’s Mazen Gamal in straight games, mainly thanks to taking the first on a tie-break. Dussourd claimed it 14-12, before then dropping just six points across the next two games to win in three.

The final of the Open PSA Lagord Tennis Squash will take place on Saturday, November 5 with Scotland’s Rory Stewart and Frenchman Auguste Dussourd taking each other on for the Challenger 20 level crown. You can keep up to date with live scores from the final here.
