Lagord Tennis Squash: Dussourd Claims Second Win Of Season

Frenchman Auguste Dussourd took the victory on home soil at the Open PSA Lagord Tennis Squash on Saturday, delighting the home crowd.

He came into the Challenger 20 level competition as the No.2 seed, and after receiving a bye through the opening round, the Frenchman then got the better of Italian No.1 Yuri Farneti to get his campaign underway.

The World No.42 then defeated Egypt’s No.7 seed Ibrahim Elkabbani in straight games in the quarter finals, before going the distance in the opening game of his last four lash with Mazen Gamal. He took the tie-break 14-12, before then comfortably winning in straight games to move through to the final.

The final saw Dussourd take on Rory Stewart, a man he had beaten twice before on Tour, including at this year’s Open de France de Squash in Nantes. He was yet to drop a game against the Scot, and that continued, as he won the final in straight games in Lagord.

The Frenchman dropped just 13 points in an 11-7, 11-4, 11-2 victory, spending just 33 minutes on court. Dussourd claimed his second title of the season, following his victory at the 1st Kuwait International Squash Championship. The victory in Lagord is also the biggest of his career to date.
