Kinetic Men’s Challenger SF: Azana and Walsh To Meet

18 November 2022

Argentina’s Jeremias Azana and England’s Tom Walsh will do battle in the final of the Kinetic 5k Challenger on Friday in Florida, United States.

The Argentinian overcame a struggling David Baillargeon in the last eight, and that set up a clash with No.3 seed Alejandro Enriquez in the semis. He took the first game on a tie-break, but then saw the Guatemalan respond to win the second. From there, though, Azana dropped just six points en route to claiming a 3-1 victory.

Tom Walsh, the No.2 seed for the competition, secured a much easier victory in his semi-final contest. He took on the unseeded Anthony Lepper, who had already caused a couple of upsets earlier in the week. The Englishman made sure there would not be another, though, as he put in a confident performance to win 11-4, 11-4, 11-6 to book his spot in the final.

The final of the Kinetic Men’s Challenger will take place on Friday, November 18, with Azana and Walsh doing battle for the Challenger 5 level crown. The action will be streamed live on the club’s YouTube channel, and you can keep up to date with live scores from the tournament here.
