Johns Creek Open: Zaman & Elkabbani To Contest Final

23 July 2023

Pakistan’s Noor Zaman and Egypt’s No.2 seed Ibrahim Elkabbani both scored four game wins over Alejandro Reyes and Muhammad Ashab Irfan on semi-finals day of the Life Time Johns Creek Open to reach the Challenger 10 event final.

Zaman took out top seed and compatriot Asim Khan in the quarter finals and carried that confidence into the semi-finals as he took the opening game 11-6. Despite Reyes taking the second game 11-9, he couldn’t contain the confident Pakistani player. Zaman motored ahead to win the third and fourth games 11-5, 11-7 to win 3-1 in 44 minutes.

Elkabbani was looking to reach his fourth PSA final as he took on another Pakistani player Muhammad Ashab Irfan in his semi-final. The Egyptian started in great form, taking the opening two games 11-8, 11-6 to place one foot in the final.

Irfan responded in game three however, winning 11-8 to breathe more life in the contest. This momentum was short-lived as the highest seed left in the competition Elkabbani secured his place in the final, winning game four 11-8.

The final will undoubtedly be an exciting match with play starting at 15:00 (GMT-4). You can catch up on all the action from the final on the PSA Challenger Tour Facebook and Twitter.
