Jeu de Paume Day 2: Taghavi and Allinckx Down Top Seeds

The final of the Open Feminin du Jeu de Paume will see Frenchwoman Taba Taghavi and Switzerland’s Ambre Allinckx. meet, after the pair knocked out the top two seeds.

Taghavi had an incredible second day in Paris, going the distance in both the quarters and semis. In the last eight, she fell 2-1 down to Egypt’s Fareda Rakaybi, but fought back remarkably, dropping just six points across the last two games to move through to the last four.

In the semis, the Frenchwoman took on top see Klara Moller, and all five games of their contest were tight, with no more than three points separating the two. The Dane took the opening game, but Taghavi fought back to win both the second and third by 11-8 scorelines. Moller then took the fourth 11-9 to send the match into a decider, where the No.3 seed came out on top. Taghavi won it 11-8 to secure victory on the hour mark, moving through to the final.

In the bottom half of the draw, Switzerland’s Ambre Allinckx came through her two matches in just 50 minutes. She got the better of No.4 seed Ella Galova in four games in the quarter finals, before then needing just 20 minutes to defeat Irish No.1 Breanne Flynn, moving through to the final of the Challenger 3 level competition.
