Indian duo Senthilkumar & Khanna claim PSA Challenger Tour Player of the Month awards

Indian duo Velavan Senthilkumar and Tanvi Kanna have been named as the PSA Challenger Tour Players of the Month for August after both producing impressive performances throughout the month in multiple PSA Challenger Tour events.

25-year-old Senthilkumar started the month at the Costa North Coast Open where he reached the final after beating No.2 seed Ivan Yuen in straight games before losing out to top seed Addeen Idrakie in the final. He then moved onto the Jansher Khan Canberra Open where he impressively made it through to the final without dropping a game before beating No.2 seed Joseph White 3-1 in the final to claim his seventh title. He then completed his month with a runner-up finish at the Bega Open 12k, losing out to a strong Ryonuske Tsukue in the final 3-0.

Compatriot Tanvi Khanna played the exact same tournaments as Senthilkumar in August and matched his win and two runner-up results as well. She started the month with a win however as she claimed the Costa North Coast Open title, beating Chan Yiwen in the final after downing compatriot Joshna Chinappa in the quarter finals. Khanna then lost out in the final of the next two events that she played, both 3-2.

Khanna faced the top seed in both finals, losing out 13-11 in the fifth to compatriot Akansha Salunkhe at the Jansher Khan Canberra Open and then losing out 11-8 in the deciding game against Egypt’s Malak Khafagy in the Bega Open final.
