HCL SRFI Tour – Delhi SF: Singh and Khanna Reach Finals On Home Soil

Both finals at the 4th HCL SRFI Indian Tour – Delhi will feature home representatives, with Abhay Singh and Tanvi Khanna making it into their respective finals.

Men’s top seed Abhay Singh booked his spot into yet another final on Tour thanks to a confident performance against Hong Kong’s Matthew Lai in the last four in Delhi.

The Indian came into the semis of the Challenger 5 level competition having not dropped a game, and that form continued in the last four. He got the better of the Lai in three games, winning 11-4, 11-6, 11-8 in just 27 minutes to move through to a seventh final in the last nine months.

The World No.70 will now take on Egypt’s Yassin Elshafei, the tournament’s No.2 seed, in the final. The Egyptian overcame the challenge of Japan’s Tomotaka Endo in a four-game contest to move into the final in Delhi.

Tanvi Khanna will be the Indian representative in the women’s final, with the No.7 seed getting the better of No.3 seed Nour Ramy in straight games in the semis. She came through a tight second game 11-9 before going on to secure the win in three.

Khanna will now take on top seed Amina Orfi in the final on Wednesday. The young Egyptian, who claimed the World Junior Championship last summer, dropped just 13 points in her last four victory over compatriot Menna Walid.
