HCL SRFI Tour – Delhi QF: Indians Through In Both Draws

There will be Indian representation in both the men’s and women’s semi-finals at the 4th HCL SRFI Indian Tour – Delhi on Tuesday.

India’s Abhay Singh and Tanvi Khanna will be the sole representatives in either draw, after coming through their quarter final contests at the Dhyan Chand National Stadium in straight games on Monday afternoon.

Singh, the top seed in the men’s draw, downed South Korea’s Hoony Lee in under half an hour to secure his semi-final spot, as he aims to continue the form that saw him win a Tour-leading six times in 2022.

The Indian will now face Hong Kong’s Matthew Lai in the last four, while Egypt’s Yassin Elshafei and Japan’s Tomotaka Endo will do battle in the other semi-final in Delhi.

In the women’s draw, Khanna caused one of the upsets on the day, as she defeated No.2 seed Nadeen Kotb in straight games to book her place in the last four. The Indian delighted the home crowd, winning 11-8, 11-5, 11-9 in just under half an hour to advance.

She will join an Egyptian trio in the semi-finals. Khanna will take on No.3 seed Nour Ramy, while top seed Amina Orfi, who has won on her previous two Challenger Tour appearances, will do battle with compatriot and No.6 seed Menna Walid.
