Hamilton Open SF: Beecroft and Moataz Into Surprise Final

England’s Lucy Beecroft and Egypt’s Hana Moataz will face off in the final of the Hamilton Open on Saturday evening in Lancaster, PA.

Beecroft, the No.5 seed for the competition, took on Scotland’s Lisa Aitken, the World No.28, in the semi-finals on Friday evening. She won the first game 12-10, but saw Aitken equalise after the second. The same pattern occurred over the next two games, with the contest going to five. The Englishwoman was the one to take the victory in the end, winning the fifth 11-4.

She will now face Moataz, who continues her unbeaten run after winning in Chicago last week. The Egyptian downed No.8 seed Georgia Adderley in straight games, including a third game tie-break 12-10, to book her spot in a second consecutive final.

The final of the Hamilton Open will take place on Saturday, October 29. Lucy Beecroft and Hana Moataz will do battle for the Challenger 20 level title at the Hamilton Club of Lancaster.
