Faltami Squash Inn Classic SF: Garcia and Tovar Into Final

The top two seeds at the Faltami Squash Inn Classic, Mexico’s Diana Garcia and Colombia’s Laura Tovar, will contest the final on Sunday afternoon.

Garcia, who was one of several home hopes for the competition, came into he event as the top seed. In the semis, she took on the up-and-coming Yasshmita Jadishkumar, and fell behind to the Malaysian after the first game. However, from there, she fought back, and won the next three games to the loss of just eight points in total. That run included winning the third game 11-0, as she booked her spot in the final on home soil.

She will take on No.2 seed Laura Tovar in the final, after the Colombian overcame the other Mexican left in the competition, Diana Gasca, in the semis. Tovar won the opening two games comfortably, but then saw a fightback from the home hope. Gasca won the third, and then had a chance in the fourth, but Tovar came through it 12-10 to move into the final.
