Eastside Open: Scotland’s Alasdair Prott Captures Maiden Title In Tasmania

Appearing in his first PSA tour final, Scotland’s Alasdair Prott claimed his maiden title with victory at the Eastside Open in Hobart, Tasmania after beating Australia’s Dylan Molinaro in five games.

Molinaro had been in great form during the event and annexed the No.8 and No.3 seeds on route to the final and continued that form as he took the opening game 11-8. Prott responded however to take game two 11-5 and looked more confident on court after some early nerves. Molinaro regained the lead however as he got back to his game plan and maintained a good pace , forcing error from the Scot to lead 2-1.

Prott battled back well and cut the errors out of his game from there however. He made himself difficult to break down and started to pick off Molinaro around the middle of the court. After sending the game into a fifth game by winning game four 11-3, there was no stopping the 22-year-old Scot as he gained a lead in the deciding game and never looked back. He secured the game 11-6 to complete the win in just under an hour to life his first PSA title.
