Danny Gamble Open QF: Top Four Seeds Into Semis

Like the opening round, there were no surprises in the quarter finals of the Danny Gamble Open, with the top four seeds into the semis.

The closest match in the quarter final session saw No.3 seed Asia Harris fight back from two games down to overcome compatriot Katie Wells and to book her place in the last four of the competition on home soil.

Wells took a two game advantage thanks to some high-quality squash. She won both of the opening two games 11-9. However, Harris fought back and dropped just seven points across the next two games to send the match into a decider, where she was able to narrowly win 11-9, booking her place in the last four.

She will now face Singaporean No.1, and the tournament’s top seed, Au Yeong Wai Yhann, in the semis. Yhann downed No.8 seed Isabel McCullough in straight games, rounding off the win with a 12-10 victory in the third.

The other semi-final in Canterbury will be a battle between England and Scotland. Saran Nghiem defeated Scotland’s Katriona Allen to move through, to face another Scot in No.2 seed Alison Thomson. Thomson downed England’s Amelie Haworth in straight games to book her semi-final spot.
