Combaxx International Championships SF: All Egypt Finals Set

The semi-finals of the CAS – Serena Hotels/Combaxx International Squash Championships have set up two all-Egyptian finals in Islamabad.

The men’s final will feature the tournament’s top seeds, in Moustafa El Sirty and Mohamed ElSherbini, on Sunday. El Sirty, the World No.27, overcame Hungarian No.1 Balazs Farkas in a five-game battle. Farkas led after three games, but El Sirty showed his fighting qualities to come back and win in five games, after just over an hour on court.

El Sirty will now face compatriot ElSherbini in the final, after the World No.33 defeated another Egyptian, in Yahya Elnawasany. The pair went to four games, with ElSherbini fighting back from losing the first game to win in 44 minutes, booking his spot in the final.

The women’s final will also be an all-Egyptian affair in Islamabad on Sunday. No.4 seed Malak Khafagy defeated compatriot Nour Heikal in a five-game thriller, winning the deciding game 11-7. She will now face No.3 seed Fayrouz Aboelkheir in the final, after the youngster downed Spain’s Marta Dominguez Fernandez in straight games in less than 20 minutes.

The finals of the CAS – Serena Hotels/Combaxx International Squash Championships will take place on Sunday, October 23 at the Mushaf Squash Complex in Islamabad.
