Cleveland SC Open SF: Ng and Bonmalais Into Final

3 October 2022

Malaysia’s Eain Yow Ng and Frenchman Sebastien Bonmalais will meet in the final of the Cleveland Skating Club Open on Monday evening, after winning their respective semi-finals on Sunday in Ohio.

Top seed Ng made it through to the semis after wins over England’s Curtis Malik and home hope Timothy Brownell, and he came up against Mexico’s Leonel Cardenas, the tournament’s No.4 seed, in the semi-finals.

It was business as usual for the Malaysian, who dropped just 11 points in his last four match-up. Ng won the first game 11-5 to hold the advantage, and he never looked like relishing that lead. Both the second and third games were won with an 11-3 scoreline, and the World No.26 is into the final in Cleveland.

He will now face Frenchman Sebastien Bonmalais in the final on Monday evening at the Cleveland Skating Club. Bonmalais came through his semi-final against the unseeded Rory Stewart in four games. He lost the first game, but fought back well to lead 2-1. The fourth went to a tie-break, and it was Bonmalais that took it 12-10 to book his place in the final.

The final of the Cleveland Skating Club Open will take place on Monday evening, and you can watch all the action from the meeting between Ng and Bonmalais live on the PSA Challenger Tour YouTube channel. If you are unable to watch, then you can see up to date with live scores here.
