Challenger Tour Weekly Preview: One Event Kicks Off 2023

It’s a New Year, and the Challenger Tour gets 2023 underway with a single event in Wales this week.

We had an incredible 2022, which saw winners from all over the globe, including players claiming their first Tour titles, to those winning yet again..

Now it’s time for 2023 to get underway, and the Challenger Tour does so with the Colwyn Classic, which takes place in Wales.

Here is what is going on on the Tour this week…

Colwyn Classic
The only event of the week will be the Colwyn Classic, which will take place from Wednesday, January 4 to Saturday, January 7 at Le Sport Health and Fitness in Colwyn Bay, Wales.

The Challenger 5 tournament will be the first event of 2023, and World No.22 Emily Whitlock will lead an all-British top three seeds. The Welshwoman will be joined by England’s Katie Malliff and Anna Kimberley, while Egypt’s Nour Heikal will make up the rest of the top four seeds.

Two more English women, in Kiera Marshall and Polly Clark, will join Switzerland’s Ambre Allinckx and Frenchwoman Elise Romba as the rest of the eight seeds for the competition. Two more Welsh players, in Lowri Roberts and wildcard Elin Harlow, will also be in action on home soil.
