Challenger Tour Weekly Preview: One Event In Bangladesh

The Challenger Tour continues this week with just a single event taking place in Bangladesh, which begins on Wednesday, October 5.

The 2nd Bangabandhu Squash Tournament presented by Ishaphani Ltd will take place across five days in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and the Challenger 5 level tournament will feature 32 men aiming for victory.

Over the last week, England’s Asia Harris and Frenchman Edwin Clain were victorious in Nancy, while the Tour will also see the conclusion of the Cleveland Skating Club Open on Monday. Eain Yow Ng and Sebastien Bonmalais will do battle in the final of the Challenger 30 level competition.

2nd Bangabandhu Squash Tournament presented by Ishaphani Ltd

The only event on Tour this week will be the 2nd Bangabandhu Squash Tournament presented by Ishaphani Ltd. The Challenger 5 level tournament will take place from Wednesday, October 5 to Sunday, October 9.

The Gulshan Club Ltd will play host to the tournament once again, when Egypt’s Yassin Elsahfei claimed the title in October 2021.

This year’s Challenger 5 level competition will feature 32 players, with Kuwaiti No.1 Ammar Altamimi being the top seed. He will be joined by the Malaysia duo of Duncan Lee and Amir Amirul, along with Egypt’s Ziad Ibrahim, among the top four seeds for the tournament.

The top 16 players will be seeded for the competition, with the Iranian trio of Sepehr Etemadpoor, Sami Ghasedabadi and Mohammad Kashani, Sri Lanka’s Ravindu Laksiri and Pakistan’s Muhammad Farhan all in that grouping.

The rest of the draw will be filled with Bangaldeshis aiming to impress on home soil. Hamza Ibn Saleheen will be the leading home hope, while Runny Debnath, Md Shahadat Hossain, MD Shorif and Sazzad Arefin Alam will be the wildcards in the draw.
