Challenger Tour Weekly Preview: Hong Kong Hosts Single Event

15 January 2023

For the third week in succession, the Challenger Tour will hold just a single event, with the Tour moving from the United Kingdom to Hong Kong.

Last week, Welshman Owain Taylor and England’s Torrie Malik were victorious at the 501 Fun Colin Payne Kent Open, with the latter claiming her third title of the 2022-2023 campaign.

This week, the Tour makes the move east, with the KCC PSA Challenge Cup being held at the Kowloon Cricket Club in Hong Kong.

Take a look at what is going on on the Tour this week…

KCC PSA Challenge Cup

The KCC PSA Challenge Cup is the only event this week, and the five-day competition will feature both a men’s and women’s Challenger 10 level draw at the Kowloon Cricket Club in Hong Kong.

Malaysia’s Aira Azman will be the top seed in the women’s event, and the highest-ranked player competing in Hong Kong this week. The World No.69 will be joined by compatriot Ooi Kah Yan among the top eight seeds, with the trio of defending champion Cheng Nga Ching, Ching Hei Fung and Toby Tse all being seeded on home soil.

A pair of Hongkongers will lead the way in the men’s draw. Wong Chi Him will be the top seed and will be aiming to win this event for a fourth time, with Tang Ming Hong following in close competition. Kuwaiti Abdullah Almezayen and Egypt’s Abdelaziz Hegazy will make up the rest of the top four seeds in the draw.
