Calgary Women’s Week SF: Turmel and Beecroft Into All-English Final

It will be an all-English final between Lucy Turmel and Lucy Beecroft at the Calgary CFO Consulting Services Women’s Squash Week.

Turmel, the tournament’s top seed, had to fight back from behind to overcome Hong Kong’s Tomato Ho in a five-game contest. The Englishwoman found herself behind after losing the third 11-9, but then won the fourth game 11-7 to send the match into a decider.

Both women had their opportunities to get the job done, but in the end, it was the World No.36 that took the victory. The Englishwoman won the fifth 12-10 to move through to the final at the Calgary Winter Club, her first final on Tour in 13 months.

She will now face compatriot Lucy Beecroft in the final on Sunday, after the World No.45 defeated Australian Jessica Turnbull in four games. She led 2-0 before the Aussie fought back to win the third game. However, she regrouped to then claim the fourth to take the victory, and to move into the final.
