Bangabandhu Squash Tournament: Tournament Preview

The only event taking place on the PSA Challenger Tour this week will be the 2nd Bangabandhu Squash Tournament presented by Ishaphani Ltd. The event will take place in Dhaka, Bangladesh from Wednesday, October 5 to Sunday, October 9.

The tournament plays host to a Challenger 5 level men’s draw, with 32 players aiming to take home the glory after five days of action at the Gulshan Club Ltd.

Kuwaiti No.1 Ammar Altamimi will be the tournament’s top seed, and he will be aiming to win for the first time on Tour since 2016. He will be joined in the top four seeds by Egypt’s Ziad Ibrahim and the Malaysian duo of Duncan Lee and Amir Amirul.

Abdelaziz Hegazy will make it two Egyptian inside the top eight seeds, while there will also be a host of other nations. Iran’s Sepeher Etemadpoor, India’s Navaneeth Prabhu and Pakistani Muhammad Farhan will be in that seeding bracket.

Sri Lankan No.1 Ravindu Laksiri will also be among the seedings, of which there will be 16 in the 32-strong draw. There will also be 16 Bangladeshis in action all on home soil, including a quartet of wildcards. Runny Debnath, Md Shahadat Hossain, MD Shorif and Sazzad Arefin Alam will be in the tournament.
