Almezayen & Azman Claim PSA Challenger Tour Players of the Month Titles

Kuwait’s Abdulla Almezayen and Malaysia’s Aira Azman have been named as the PSA Challenger Tour players of the month for January after both players captured the KCC PSA Challenge Cup (Challenger 10) titles in Hong Kong.

Former World No.33 Almezayen claimed the title after beating Hong Kong’s No.2 seed Tang Ming Hong in the semi-finals before defeating another Hong Kong opposition, Andes Ling in the final 3-0 in 29 minutes. This win has helped the Kuwait No.1 rise 42 places in the World Rankings as he now sits at No.103.

Malaysia’s Aira Azman was the top seed for the women’s event and after surviving a scare against Hong Kong’s Toby Tse in the quarter finals, went on to record two comfortable wins in the semi-finals and final, winning both matches 3-0 in under 25 minutes. The win for the 18-year-old has taken her six places up the World Rankings to reach World No.65.
