2nd Bangamata International Tournament: Tournament Preview

The first event on the Challenger Tour this week will be the 2nd Bangamata International Squash Tournament presented by SA Group.

The Challenger 5 level men’s competition will take place at the Chittagong Club in Chattogram, Bangladesh from Tuesday, March 7 to Saturday, March 11.

This will be the second edition of the tournament, twelve months after Egypt’s Yassin Elshafei took the title. Another Egyptian will be the top seed this year, with Ibrahim Elkabbani leading the field. He will be joined by compatriot Seif Shenawy as the two men seeded to reach the final in Chattogram.

The Malaysian duo of Darren Rahul Pragasam and Hafiz Zhafri are also among the top eight seeds in the 32-strong draw, with Kuwait’s Ammar Altamimi, India’s Sandeep Ramachandran, Sri Lankan No.1 Ravindu Laksiri and Hong Kong’s Harley Lam also in that bracket.

There will be ten Bangladeshis in action in the competition with Fazley Ahmed as the leading home hope. MD Shumon, Masum Ahmed and MD Shahadat Hossain will be among the wildcards for the competition.
