Malaysia’s Aifa Azman already has a title tally in double digits, and broke into the world’s top 25 for the first time in her career in 2022.

Azman made her debut on the Tour in 2014, and played solely on the Malaysian Tour for the first few years of her career, as she started to make her way in the game. She made a couple of semi-final appearances in 2015 and 2016, before her big break came in 2018.

That year, she won four times on the Malaysian Tour, including winning three consecutive events. Thanks to that run of form, she broke inside the top 100 for the first time, and after three more wins in 2019, that improved even further.

Azman was victorious twice on Australian soil, winning the Roberts & Morrow North Coast Open and the Squash Melbourne Open, before she featured in the main draw of the Women’s World Championships for the first time, reaching the second round of the event.

The Malaysian then claimed a seventh win on Tour before her 19th birthday, as she won the International Squash Classic in December 2019, beating Farah Momen in the final. She broke inside the top 60 for the first time in her career thanks to that win, but only played in one event in 2020, reaching the semi-finals of the Jaipur Leg on the HCL SRFI Indian Tour.

Azman played in only five events in 2021, and all of those came in her home nation of Malaysia. She started with a victory at the SRAM PSA 1, before then also taking the titles at the SRAM PSA 5 and SRAM PSA 6. She also reached the final of the seventh event on the SRAM Tour.

She then won the Bronze level Malaysian Open Squash Championships, despite being a wildcard for the tournament. Azman defeated three of the top five seeds, in Egypt’s Salma Hany and Yathreb Adel, and Canada’s Danielle Letourneau, to take the biggest win of her career to date.

That victory put her firmly into the major draws, and she reached her first Silver level quarter final at the Manchester Open. Azman then made the third round of a Platinum for the first time, doing so at the El Gouna International, but only featured four times in the first half of the 2022-2023 season. That run included making the last 16 at the Everbright Securities International Hong Kong Squash Open and making the quarters on home soil in Malaysia.

Azman broke into the world's top 25 for the first time that year, following those results. She also secured a Bronze Medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham that year as well. Alongside Rachel Arnold, the pair finished third in the Women's Doubles competition.

Azman started 2023 with a quarter final finish at the Carol Weymuller Open, but struggled in the majors somewhat throughout the back end of the campaign. She reached the second round of the PSA World Championships and El Gouna International to end the season.
