Farkas and Malliff Named PSA Challenger Tour Players Of The Month

Hungary’s Balazs Farkas and England's Katie Malliff have been named the PSA Challenger Tour Players Of The Month for March.

For Farkas, his win comes largely courtesy of a stunning victory at the Odense Open, which guaranteed him his place at the 2022 PSA World Championships.

Farkas, a beaten finalist last year, came into this year’s Challenger 10 level tournament unseeded, knocking out No.5 seed Ben Coleman and No.2 seed Faraz Khan en route to the final, where he overcame English No.6 seed Sam Todd 3-1: 11-8, 12-10, 2-11, 11-7 (53m).

Malliff, too, enjoyed a strong showing in Odense, where despite being unseeded she reached the final after knocking out three of the top six seeds.

Though Malliff lost in the final to top seed Alexandra Fuller, she quickly bounced back, picking up a win in Val de Reuil Normandie as No.7 seed to guarantee her place in the World Championships. She beat Spanish No.3 seed Marta Dominguez Fernandez 3-1 in 43 minutes.
