Zahra Dental Clinic: Shameli Takes Second Title In A Week

Iranian No.1 Alireza Shameli has secured his second title in just six days, with a victory at the Zahra Dental Clinic to follow his win at the Commemoration of the Martyrs of the Iranian Navy Army on Friday.

Shameli, whose three Tour titles had all come on home soil in Iran, came into this Challenger 3 level event at the Heydarnia Squash Complex in Tehran as the top seed once again.

The World No.137 started his campaign in the opening round against Danial Gharooni, and came through that match in four games, before he then defeated Soheil Shameli in a five-game battle, recovering from a comeback to win the fifth and make it through to the semi-finals.

In the last four, the tournament’s top seed defeated No.3 seed Sepehr Etemadpoor in a four-game contest which saw two tie-breaks. Shameli then faced off against No.4 seed Sami Ghasedabadi, and needed just 35 minutes to secure his fourth Tour title, and his second in the space of a week.
