Top Seeds Make Central Gauteng Final

18 December 2014

An all-South African final featuring the event’s top two seeds will bring the Central Gauteng Open to a climax at Parkview Squash Club in Johannesburg.

After a courageous run in the new PSA World Tour Challenger 5 event which included upsets over two seeds, 46-year-old tournament promoter Craig van der Wath finally bowed out in the semi-finals when he lost 11-7, 11-8, 11-6 to second-seeded South African Clinton Leeuw.

An impressive display by unheralded South African Thoboki Mohohlo also came to an end in the other semi when the unranked 22-year-old went down to top seed Shaun le Roux.

US-born Mohohlo upset fifth seed Christo Potgieter in the quarter-finals – but favourite Le Roux (pictured) was too strong in the next round, winning 11-5, 11-7, 13-11.
